Marsiana 2-7
CHAPTER 7
Astronaut Johnson landed on the surface of Oberon and carefully looked around. He had never been on the moon of Uranus, but knew where to go.
‘Let's go right first, then we will see,’ he said, walking over the gray ice. “It's strange, here too ice,” Johnson mused, looking down at his feet. “And the stars are not very different over the head than in Oklahoma. Is that instead of the Moon in the sky is Uranus”. A fantastic view of Uranus and unfamiliar landscape frightens Johnson, so he tried to look up at the sky as rarely as possible. Half an hour later, he saw a small figure. Johnson confidently approached her and stopped. ‘I came, Marsiana,’ he said, looking around the small figure of a girl standing motionless on the black stone. ‘Ah, it's you Uncle Michael. Good to see you,’ Marsiana gladly smiled at astronaut. ‘Do not call me "Uncle Michael." For you I'm just Michael,’ asked Johnson. ‘Why?’ Marsiana surprised. ‘Just.’ ‘I see.’ Some time Marsiana and Johnson stood by and looked straight ahead. ‘What do you say, Michael,’ Marsiana said. Johnson squinted at her. ‘I do not know. But what I have to say.’ ‘How did your comrades at the station,’ Marsiana asked. ‘They think I’m a mutant. They are glad to get rid of me.’ ‘Kregl very scared you?’ Marsiana asked suddenly. ‘Kregl,’ Johnson started for the first time heard an unfamiliar word. ‘Yes, being out of the container. It was kregl. It’s very dangerous and insidious thing. They haunt me since I was born.’ ‘So you also were born,’ Johnson asked. ‘Well yes. Like all normal people. However, it happened not on Earth, but on Mars.’ ‘Then you are not like everyone any more. Generally, people are born on Earth,’ Johnson argued the girl. Marsiana smiled. ‘Sorry, it just happened.’ ‘What are you doing here?’ Johnson asked, wanting to change the subject. ‘I’m waiting for my Dad Max,’ Marsiana answered. ‘He's here or on the Uranus or on the Oberon?’ ‘No. He is far away. Very far,’ Marsiana sighed. Johnson noticed it. ‘I understand. Why are you sighing? It happened something?’ ‘It depends. Not yet, but it can happen.’ ‘So that’s why you called me?’ Marsiana affirmatively nodded. ‘I thought to take first in my assistant Billie and Christy, but they are too slow growing. If I had accelerated the process of their growth –it would cause suspicion but you an adult. Do you understand?’ Marsiana looked at Johnson. He nodded. ‘No, if you are against, please, at any time you can return to the station to your comrades. You all together will calculate the trajectory to Earth. Though in my opinion, you’ll never get back. You simply will not be able to disperse the station to the desired speed. There are other, equally important issues that affect the mission of your crew, headed by the commander Hopkins.’ ‘Hard,’ Johnson said. He was not even surprised that Marsiana knows the name of their commander. ‘But it’s true,’ the girl replied. For a while they stared into the distance. ‘Now it starts,’ Marsiana suddenly said with some joy. ‘What do you mean?’ Michael frowned and gave the girl a glance. He didn’t like her tone. Marsiana smiled. ‘You’ll see. You'll like it. Take it,’ she gave him some object, which seems to be, and was not the subject, but it is not clear what it was exactly. Johnson's hand disappeared into the dark matter, and he saw how the bottom of the substance was slightly glowing. ‘What is it? Weapon?’ he guessed. ‘Weapon,’ Marsiana nodded. ‘What for? What to do with it?’ ‘I've already said – you will see. Now they’ll come.’ Johnson was caught by the tremble. He was impressed by the calmness of the little girl. Outwardly she was fragile, but he had a feeling that stands next to the basalt or granite rock. Marsiana took a few steps, and Johnson saw her little feet left on a rocky surface of satellite the deep traces. He stepped behind. He looked around. There were not left traces behind him. It turned out Marsiana now weighed about a ton or even more! Johnson from emotion instantly was sweating. "Well, what a weird little girl I came across with!" flashed through his mind. ‘Here they are!’ he heard the calm voice of Marsiana. ‘Johnson, do not sleep!’ A hundred yards away in the air thickened some shades and then appeared the pale strip of light and after it on the surface of Oberon started silently down some strange creatures. Johnson stiffened. He looked at Marsiana. It suddenly seemed that the girl in some way has grown and now was looking like a teenager of fifteen. Mysterious creatures headed toward them. Johnson hadn’t enough time to look at them carefully because Marsiana began to burn them down. White flames melted the ground, stones, transformed dozens of creatures in a handful of ashes. ‘Who are they?’ he shouted. ‘I do not know. But they persecute me all the time,’ Marsiana answered, while continuing to fire. Johnson watched in shock for a while. He himself did not fire yet. Frankly speaking, he had no idea how to shoot with a gun of Marsiana. ‘Michael, help me!’ Marsiana suddenly shouted. Johnson saw that next to him was fighting a tall, pretty girl of about twenty. ‘What are you staring at?’ Marsiana shouted angrily. ‘You will stare at me later. There is no time now. See how many of them!’ Marsiana was right. The creatures appeared by dozens and dozens disappeared in white, deadly flames. Johnson opened fire. His weapon fired not so much as the Marsiana’s, but beings scattered into pieces one by one. ‘It’s seems it turns out,’ he shouted, squinting in the blinding white light flares. ‘Of course, it turns out,’ Marsiana answered to him. How long the battle lasted, it was difficult to determine, at least for Johnson. But when it was over, it seemed to him that he was blind. Only a minute later his eyes again got used to the gloom which reined at Oberon. He looked at the Marsiana. Her dark eyes literally attracted him. ‘How are you doing this?’ he asked. ‘What exactly? Can you be more concrete,’ Marsiana smiled. ‘How, for example, from a little girl you turned into an adult female? The mind simply boggles,’ Michael said. ‘A few minutes I again turn into a little girl. In moments of acute danger, I quickly grow to be able to protect myself. When I was little, I had just enough strength for it,’ Marsiana explained. ‘Kiss me,’ she asked suddenly. Johnson thought he misheard. He did not move. ‘You heard what I told you?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Well, kiss or you’ll keep look at me?’ ‘Are you serious?’ Johnson believed that Marsiana simply was playing tricks with him. ‘I’m serious.’ Johnson gently touched with his lips to Marsiana’s lips. She closed her eyes for a moment and smiled contentedly. Johnson wanted to kiss her again, but Marsiana pushed him with her hand. ‘Enough. Go back to your crew.’ ‘To the station?’ ‘Yes. To the station.’ Johnson frowned. ‘They all got me yet. They’ll again look at me with suspicion.’ ‘You shouldn’t worry about it. I'll arrange everything so that the station was back on the Earth's orbit, and your companions will forget what happened to you.’ ‘Are you serious?’ Johnson asked not believing her. All that said Marsiana, looked for him as some wonderful fairy tale. ‘Really, just like with a kiss.’ ‘And you can do all this?’ ‘I can.’ ‘And what about the container and being? Is it real?’ ‘Yes. Kregl is real and dangerous. Now the landing module descends to the Pacific Ocean,’ Marsiana said. ‘Really? And what are they going to do?’ ‘Militaries offer to destroy by the missile.’ Johnson rubbed his chin. ‘I think you’ll control situation?’ ‘Of course. I'll do my best. Well, let's say good-bye, Michael. Thank you for your help. It’s time for you to go and for me too,’ Marsiana again turned into an eight-year girl. She pressed his warm, large palm and disappeared without a trace. Johnson stood in shock a little more and went back to his companions to the space station. Marsiana was right. They do not remember anything, and met him as usual. Commander Hopkins believed that he, Johnson was engaged in re-entry of containers arriving from Earth. Glad that's all over so well, Johnson sat in his chair and closed his eyes. His lips wandered happy smile with. He recalled the kiss of the Marsiana. It seemed to him; no he was sure that there on Oberon he fell in love with the amazing and unusual girl.
