Marsiana 2-8
CHAPTER 8
Opinions NASA’s experts radically divided. Some believed that the creature wanted from the space got on the Earth. Others on the contrary considered that from the Earth into the space. Neither one nor the other wanted to give up, but all agreed on one thing – in any case they shouldn’t allow the strange creature gets on the Earth. The case took in their hands the militaries. When landing spacecraft entered the dense layers of the atmosphere they shot it down by the missile Earth-Air. Several military jet fighters tracked the falling fragments of shot down spacecraft.
The container with a stranger being did not hurt, and happily fell in the forest in the state of Illinois. Local FBI agents quickly found it and in strict secrecy transferred to a military laboratory where the experts were already waiting for it. The examination of contents of the container was commissioned to Professor Paul Graham. Assisted him the Dr. Sally Duane and Stuart Stone. The FBI agents and NASA experts keep an eye on them. When they opened the container for a long time no one dared to approach it. Autopsy makes the robot with a remote control. Video cameras recorded the presence of strange creatures inside. ‘This is it,’ Professor Graham said confidently. ‘Agree,’ Dock Duane agreed with him. ‘A hair's breadth as in the photos with a runaway robot.’ ‘Exactly. But you know perfectly well that it is no not a robot, but ...’ he paused. ‘Yes, there is nothing to hide it’s the real alien from an unknown world.’ ‘What do you think it did inside the container?’ Sally asked. She was the only woman in the laboratory. ‘Who knows,’ Graham shrugged. ‘On his true intentions, we can only guess. Probably on the Earth, he was exhausted and tried in this way to get into the space, where his mates would pick it up. Or, conversely, would penetrate in the container on the Earth. In my opinion, both assumptions are untenable. If they are able to move over the long distances there is no reason to resort to such the primitive tricks, although this is just our human explanation.’ ‘What we do with it, Doc?’ Stuart Stone asked. ‘Study. What else we can do with it? Of course, remotely. Our colleagues from the FBI strongly recommend not engaging with him in close contact. This could end badly for us. In the morning, I got acquainted with all the available information. If at least half would be true, then we should expect big surprises.’ ‘Doc, it moves!’ Stone said, pointing at the monitors. Actually being in the container began to move, tried to get out of it. People who were behind the thick armored glass slightly panicked. Of course, if there is an immediate threat to their lives, the military will turn a stranger into a handful of ashes, but scientists then get nothing to study only the alien’s DNA code. ‘He cannot get out of it,’ one of the FBI agents said confidently. ‘We took care of the protection of the premises as it should be.’ ‘I wish to believe it,’ Sally told him. She was pretty and many men liked her. Including the colleagues. Sally perfectly knew about it and from time to time used it. The agent looked at her and then looked at the container. ‘We’ll try to make contact with him,’ Professor Graham said. Scientists have launched the contact program developed by the best specialists of NASA. The air around the container suddenly began to thicken, darken. There were some highlights and a blue glow. Safety glass dimmed, beginning to melt. ‘It is trying to get out,’ shouted someone from the agents. ‘Everyone get ready to leave the room!’ ‘You said that we are in no danger,’ Sally said reproachfully. ‘So far no ma'am. But things can change. We do not know what it is capable of.’ The next moment the protective glass began to melt quickly. It sounded the alarm signal. People rushed to run out of the lab. Being shrouded in blue glow then turned into a glowing yellow triangle and began to rise slowly towards the ceiling. But apparently something went wrong or it did not have enough energy and it has again dropped to the floor next to the container. The scientist team retreated to the spare lab with horror and admiration looked at the prisoner. Nothing like that none of them has seen in their life. On the face of creatures wandered some convexity. Then there appeared two and then four eyes. Being raised his left hand with one long finger. Kregl began to talk referring to the scientist: ‘Kare ar re oru sa tokr Marsiana,’ in non-human, almost mechanical voice is clearly heard the question. The scientists looked at each other in bewilderment. None of them knew what it tells them. ‘I understood only the last word "Marsiana",’ Sally said. ‘This word is at least something similar.’ Forward stepped FBI agent Bob Conner. His face was calm, though tense. ‘Marsiana is on our part. I wonder how a stranger knows about her.’ ‘About her?’ Sally exclaimed. ‘What do you mean by that?’ ‘Just that Marsiana is the name of a little girl,’ the agent Conner explained. ‘Girl? Sally's voice could be heard puzzling in. ‘How the being aware about her and what the connection is between them? ‘Ma'am, you ask questions to which I obviously do not have an answer,’ agent Conner calmly replied. ‘Undoubtedly the one thing, they are somehow linked.’ Sally looked at each other with her colleagues. ‘Nonsense,’ she said. ‘Maybe nonsense,’ Conner agreed. ‘But you heard being uttered her name. Most likely it will require a meeting with Marsiana or else ...’ ‘Or else what?’ Stone interrupted. ‘It’ll try again to get out of the lab?’ ‘Quite possible,’ Stone paid careful look to Conner. ‘In fact we are all pawns in someone's incomprehensible to us game. It's my personal opinion.’ Professor Graham for a moment was thinking then smirked and said: ‘Well, call your Marsiana. Let's see what all of this happen.’ She's not ours. Yes, and we do not know whether her family allow her to go with us,’ agent Conner said. Professor Graham threw up his hands. ‘Here I am powerless to do anything.’ ‘You know,’ agent Conner looked at the creature behind the glass. ‘I wonder what he wants from us. It would be better if it flies home.’ ‘You are right, by the way,’ Stone intervened. ‘Anybody knows where the creature came to us from?’ ‘Personally me I do not,’ Conner answered. ‘It's a pity. I think your organization has some secret information on the project.’ Conner's face appeared condescending smile. The regular people, after watching Hollywood movies usually tend to overestimate capabilities their of cause stronger but not all-powerful organization. ‘We usually do business with people, not with outsiders,’ he said. The creature meanwhile calmed down and no longer made attempts to escape from the laboratory. It seemed it listens to the conversation of people despite the concrete thickness and armored glass. Sally suddenly felt that she gets scared and uncomfortable. She shivered involuntarily looked around. Behind them there was no one, but she was sure that someone was staring at her back. "I wish it would not have happened disaster!" she thought involuntarily. The FBI laboratory is located deep under the ground, under the protection of not only the FBI SWAT but also the Green Berets. More reliable protection was difficult to imagine. With one single being they certainly will cope. It is another matter if he calls for help or have already done so and waiting to be release by it fellows. ‘We have to hurry,’ she said referring to who was in the laboratory. ‘We do not know how much more time being will be in a weakened state. We also do not know what species of energy it feeds with. Suddenly the creature just right now is fueling by the laboratory reactor? Theoretically, it is quite feasible.’ ‘Theoretical, yes,’ Stone agreed with her. ‘But in practice, I can not even imagine how this can be done.’ ‘You're an ordinary person that's why you can not imagine it,’ Sally replied. Agent Conner interrupted their argument. ‘I’ll get in touch with my superiors. I will try to make deal about Marsiana.’ ‘Good. We still continue our research,’ Professor Graham said. ‘Robots ready?’ he asked a question to Stone. ‘Yes, you can start.’ ‘Let’s do it,’ Graham allowed. Stone activated on the remote control several robots. From the ceiling of the lab fell the manipulators which tried to scan the creature. At first the alien did not respond and the scientists were able to enlighten him using the ultrasound. It gave them the little information because on the screen was absolutely nothing to be seen. There were some blurry spots and pulsating point. Theoretically, it could be assumed that this was the heart of a stranger, but what it was on real knew only the owner of a pulsating organ. ‘Increase the power of the beam,’ Sally advised. Stone nodded and pressed a few buttons on the remote control. The picture on the screen began to clear, but apparently the creature did not like it. It is worried, from the left toe appeared blue, faintly a thin ray of light. Manipulators with analyzers and instruments melted one after the other, and came into the complete disrepair. ‘Kare aro tu to ko Marsiana,’ sounded in the lab creature’s voice. It is clearly was heard the ominous and threatening tone in it. Sally wanted to spit on everything and run away from the laboratory. But she was ashamed or her minutes fear and began to pretend that she was absolutely quiet. Agent Conner finished his conversation with someone on the phone and went back to the scientists. ‘In a half an hour Marsiana will be in the laboratory.’ he said Sally somehow started. If agents of such a powerful organization placed all their hopes of the success of research and contact for the unknown to her a little girl, so who was Marsiana? Is not it to be feared her no less than the creature? ‘You want to say that girl’s parents so simply allowed her go to the lab?’ she exclaimed incredulously. ‘Of course not. We invited the whole class in which is studying Marsiana, together with the teacher on a tour of our center,’ Conner said with a smile. ‘We know how to work, ma'am. That’s why we are called FBI,’ the pride sounded in his voice. ‘Really?’ Sally was surprised. She even didn’t think about such possibility. ‘Exactly. When the children arrive, we will ask Marsiana to meet with the creature. Further according to the situation.’ ‘A girl herself is aware of the forthcoming meeting?’ ‘Yes, she knows.’ ‘And how she took the news?’ ‘She wasn’t surprised.’ ‘It’s weird,’ Sally shrugged. ‘If I would be in her place I will never agree.’ Agent Conner looked at her with a slight disdain. ‘You are not Marsiana,’ he said and went to the agents Stone and Graham. Sally was not offended and what offense at? The fear is understandable and clear sense of all living things. That fact that unknown to her girl with unusual name agreed to meet the alien from the outer space was in her opinion illogical, but acceptable. Sally began to patiently await the arrival of Marsiana. * * * Visit of FBI agents Marsiana apprehended surprisingly calmly. She seemed to be waiting for them. When the agents introduced themselves and explained what they needed from her, Marsiana momentarily paused, as if considering their offer and agreed to go with them in the laboratory without objection. Of course, there was no any tour on real at all. The tour agent Conner figured out for Sally to comfort her. He was well aware that at that moment Marsiana was absolutely one. Her aunt, Mrs. Carter spree with her new boyfriend, and Marsiana was completely on her own. Of course, agents could use their force to bring the girl to the lab, but they decided not to do so and all explained her, hoping that she, like many of today's children are much smarter than think about them their parents. With Marsiana everything went perfect. She listened to them carefully, and agreed to do what was demanded of her. ‘You're not afraid,’ admonished her one of the agents, a native of the Czech Republic Yaroslavl Mládek. ‘We will ask you about nothing, neither of your parents nor about where you came in the house of Mrs. Carter from.’ ‘This is my grandmother,’ Marsiana explained calmly. ‘Let it be so,’ agent Mládek nodded. ‘We will not conduct any investigations, ask any questions or to take from you. You just look at the creature and all. Are you scared?’ he asked suddenly. Marsiana oddly looked at him. ‘And you?’ she asked. Agent of surprise embarrassed. ‘Telling the truth yes I do,’ he said quietly. ‘Me too,’ Marsiana replied in his tone. ‘But I guess you're talking about. I'm ready,’ she said firmly. Agents relieved. They did not think that Marsiana so quickly accept their offer. ‘It does not take a lot of time. You'll see,’ agent Mládek was urging her, when the three of them sat in the official car. ‘We’ll see,’ Marsiana answered. In her mind she was already in the laboratory.
