Colonel Podgorny quickly approached the girl, took her shoulders. The solid touch of strong, man’s hands a bit reassured Lena.
‘You can not even imagine how much in time you came.’ She said haltingly. Before her eyes was still image of the risen from dead creature who asked her questions in the incomprehensible language.
Colonel Podgorny, in his turn, could not bring himself to look away from the internal organs of the Professor, hanging in the air of the laboratory. Soldiers of the Alpha felt themselves not better. Carefully, trying not to touch the limbs of Professor and not looks unless absolutely necessary at his internal organs, they began to check the laboratory. Nothing like that one of them had seen in one’s life. But someone had to make and this not very pleasant job.
Colonel meanwhile began to calm down, and at the same time asking the girl about what happened in the lab during the autopsy. From the assistants who were running through the corridor, he knew that there was something extraordinary. He and his men just hurried to get to the beginning of the autopsy. But he could miss it at all. And then no one knows what could have happened. It was a big piece of luck and nothing more that he came in the right time and saved the girl.
‘I think. I do.’ He said slowly and more vigorously and with confidence added. ‘Maybe I should call for a doctor or psychologist?’
‘No. No need. I’m fine already.’ Lena really felt much better and was ready; as it seemed to her proceed to further work. However, there was no one to learn left. Unless the phenomenon of Professor Semenov.
‘Okay. Then can you explain what happened here? What happened to Professor Semenov? Why is he in this, I would say unusual, hung up state? Where is the body? Creature that we found in the laboratory, who is it? Did it talk to you? Threatened? What did it want?’
Lena nodded.
‘I understood. I will try to answer to all your questions. Although I doubt that you’ll be satisfied with my answers. You better watch the video.’
‘We’ll watch of course. But I want to hear all from you.’
Lena deeply breathed and began to tell.
Listening to the story of a girl, Colonel, vividly envisioned a picture of what happened in the lab of emergency. And then Professor exploded from inside. But he did not die. I mean in the ordinary sense of that word. He is still alive. His heart beats, blood pulsing. Well, you can see it for yourself. He maybe even hears us. I am confident that he hears. But for some reason he can’t talk...Yes, you asked me about the creature. This is the remains of the corpse, which was brought to the autopsy. The corpse in some incredible way got alive. That's all. He revived immediately after the Professor exploded. I nearly died of fright. And he came up to me and spoke to me. Can you imagine? Me hair nearly stood on ends
Colonel Podgorny listened to her very attentively. There was any need to convince him how much she suffered. Evidence of this horror was the graying at the temples which appeared. Perhaps she does not know yet that she got gray hair from the nervous tension. He, too, did not tell her about it. She will see all at home or in a closet. In general, in the first mirror which she see on her way.
‘I think he asked me about something. He’s looking for someone. Showed me the image of a man. A young guy. His face is familiar to me. Then I could not remember. Oh God!’ Lena exclaimed in horror, covering her mouth with her hand. ‘Nikolai Alekseevich it was a picture of your Max. Max Polyakov. Your nephew! I remembered. It is he! Resurrected corpse is looking for your nephew!’
Hearing the last words that she almost cried, the men of Alpha ceased to study laboratory, looked at her, then at the place in the wall where the creature had disappeared. Everyone felt a strange, painful anxiety. The situation went beyond the face of the real, everyday world.
Colonel Podgorny immediately remembered the words of the mother of Max, Olga Pavlovna that from her son for several days no news.
“Damn! How could I forget about it? I was going to call her. Now I have to see her immediately. It seems something serious coming up.”
‘Are you sure? Maybe you’re wrong? Think again.’ Colonel demanded.
Lena shook her head slowly. She was absolutely sure. Horrible creature sought Max Polyakov, nephew of Colonel Podgorny.
At this point one of the fighters Alpha quietly approached Podgorny quietly said something, nodding behind him. Colonel Podgorny looked in that direction. Woman, despite the shock, too swept curiosity. She was wondered what they found there. Maybe it was some traces?
‘It cannot be.’ Colonel said through clenched teeth, heading to the metal table at the opposite end of the laboratory. The lieutenant was not mistaken. ‘Still there, Comrade Colonel. No one was coming. No one tried to take it away.’
‘I see.’ Colonel’s brain worked like a computer, trying to find the best solution in that situation. However, there was no any solution. There were too many incomprehensible and unknown things. Anything like this before the Colonel in his practice did not face.
‘Oh my God! What is it?’ Lena asked in surprise, admiring the gentle glow.
‘We had hoped that Professor Semenov will give us the answer to this question. But it seems he won’t.’ Colonel said.
‘We have to bring to life Vlad. He is a genius. He can. I'm sure. But his nerves couldn’t stand it.’ Lena suddenly said.
‘Vlad? Who is that? Do you mean the guy on the floor?’ Colonel brightened.
‘Yes. Vlad is the best student of Professor Semenov. I think he can tell us what it is. But where it came from? I do not understand. Do corpse left? But we inspected all. There was nothing like this with him. I am absolutely sure!’
‘If only the answers to your questions born as fast.’ Colonel Podgorny said irritably. Then he gently added. ‘Guys, help him. Look what happened to him.’
Two men rushed to obey orders of Colonel.
Nicholas knew with him was playing the unknown for him players. And the rules of that game were also unknown to him, using special equipment unfamiliar to him. It irritated him. He did not like to be a pawn in someone else's confusing and not clear him game. Of course, he will find the answers to all or almost all of the questions. And someone, at best, will cease to sleep peacefully.
‘Don't worry, Lena. We’ll get to the bottom of it. Runaway resurrected corpse, too, will not go away from us. Just came over all at once in a single night. Soon the other expert’s group will come. The scientists will gather together. We solve this problem with Professor Semenov. We should cover him with something. It’s quite uncomfortable to look at him at this state. He stills a living person after all. Everything will be fine, Lena.’ Colonel Podgorny said. And it was not clear whom he was trying to calm down. Frightened girl. Himself. Or a bit puzzled with a precarious situation fighters of Alpha.
All clearly felt in the air was a smell of danger, yet distant and not quite certain. But they were called a special unit Alpha and should be ready for any kind of threats.
