Marsiana
CHAPTER 5

A large, gray cat of Mrs. Carter approached to Marsiana, and looked at her with it yellow eyes.
‘What’re you looking at?’ Marsiana asked. ‘You think I do not know that you cats can not tolerate people? Where are you from?’
Pupils of cat widened slightly, she yawned and said:
‘The Crab Nebula. Sixth planet of the central Galaxy. But you?
‘From Mars,’ Marsiana said briefly and stroked the cat's head.
Cat out of it habit narrowed her eyes and rubbed against the girl’s feet.
I know,’ cat said. ‘You're here for a long time?’
Marsiana shrugged:
‘I do not know. At least till my father will return back or until my mother wakes up. But you?’
‘I don’t know too.’
‘You're a cat?’ Marsiana asked bluntly.
‘Here, yes, I’m a cat.’
‘But in general?’
‘But in general I watch Mrs. Carter.’
‘Watch Mrs. Carter?’ Marsiana asked curiously, continuing to stroke the cat on the back.
‘Personal me, yes, I do. And, in general, we all watch the people.’ cat explained.
‘I see,’ Marsiana said and fell thinking. ‘Are there some other observers?’
‘A lot of!’ cat exclaimed.
‘Who, for example?’
‘Even the birds.’
‘Never would have thought,’ Marsiana’s hand stopped for a moment at the head of a cat.
‘No one of people think. But you do not like them.’
‘Are you being watching me too?’ Marsiana asked.
‘Rarely. I said already that you are not the common girl. You yourself can protect yourself in any situation.’
‘Your task is to defend the people? I never would have thought!’ Marsiana exclaimed. ‘And how you do it, if not a secret?’
‘Prevent people from making mistakes,’ cat said, and added.’ By the way, kregl was not alone.’
Marsiana gasped in surprise.
‘How do you know that? You have been there?’
‘Of course. I'm an observer.’
‘Why then, I did not see you there. I see far,’ Marsiana asked incredulously.
The cat yawned condescending.
‘It’s here on Earth I’m a cat, which one can pet or on the contrary step on the tail or pull the mustache. On the Moon, I'm not a cat.’
Oh, I knew about the second kregl,’ Marsiana admitted. ‘But he kept invisible, and remained high in the air. I pretended to be unaware of its presence. Why would he know about all of my abilities?’
‘You are right,’ cat approved.
‘You're my friend?’ Marsiana asked directly and looked into the eyes of a cat. For a moment she saw a strange, unknown creature.
‘I’m observer.’
‘You are on your own mind, but not an observer. I thought you’re my friend.’
‘Maybe I am your friend. If it makes you feel better,’ cat comforted her.
‘But why are you hunting birds if they are also observers? By the way, whom they watch? Accidentally not you, cats?’
‘Hunting because we are still the cats but not only the observers. Birds watch everyone. Including us.’
‘I see,’ Marsiana said. She stopped stroking the cat.
According to her opinion the conversation was over. All she needed to know she knew already.
The cat also decided that they cleared up their relationship and now she can do its usual cat’s thing. The cat meowed without hurry came out to the porch and stretched out in the sun.
The whole conversation took place mentally. And there was nothing surprising. All animals on Earth telepaths and perfectly understand each other without sounds. Marsiana well knew it.

Marsiana, too, left the house and not paying more attention to the dozing cat, went to the flower garden of Mrs. Carter. More than anything in the world she liked flowers. She was thrilled by the diversity of colors and different smells. She often sits in a flower garden surrounded by flowers, gently stroked them with her hands, she looked inside, something whispered, then pressed her cheek to one, then to the other flowers and closed her eyes, laughing with happiness and delight.
Often she admired through the colorful petals on a blue, summer’s sky. Then she felt very good and pleasant. She was like in the heaven. Very close to her mother.
More Marsiana loved to watch as on flowers sit bees, bumblebees and various small insects. It was very interesting to watch what they do. Today, Marsiana was interested in big, haughty bumblebee and red, winged insect. Marsiana sat near the flower and take them to examine carefully. Then she mentally transported into the brain of insects.
Almost immediately Marsiana saw that her image was transmitting by a bug on board the alien’s ship beyond the Earth. Most likely, the ship belonged to Kregls. Then the signal went off somewhere to the side of Pluto. Marsiana have been clear with whom it deals. It was a typical enemy’s observer.
She calmly and without fuss left brain of spy bugs and transported into the brain of bumblebee, who was collecting in concentration the nectar of flower.
The bumblebee turned to be a friendly guy from the Earth and Marsiana sighed with relief. She gave the mental order, and bumblebee, leaving his occupation, suddenly pounced on the bug-tracker, and cut it in half with his powerful jaws. The broadcast quickly disappeared.
Marsiana smiled with satisfaction, thanked the bumblebee and left its brain. One spy observer was less. Of course, there were probably thousands, or millions of them, but everything has its time.
‘You did the right thing,’ cat said looking at Marsiana sitting behind her.
‘I think so, too,’ Marsiana said, without turning around.
‘There are many of them here,’ cat kept talking.
‘I know. Will you help me?’
‘Maybe. I think about it,’ cat answered evasively and playfully began to roll in the grass.
Marsiana as if nothing had happened, continued to admire the flowers.
