Marsiana
CHAPTER 10
The next day Marsiana went in search of treasure. Billy, as might be expected, had come with her.
‘Where are we going?’ he asked, trying to keep up with the girls. ‘Search Treasure,’ Marsiana was concentrated, and was not disposed to speak long sentences. Billy’s breath was caught by surprise. ‘Wow, you don’t say so!’ he exclaimed. ‘Real?’ ‘What real?’ ‘Treasure, I mean real’ ‘Real, real’ Marsiana assured him turning into the alley. She was going on to the outskirts of town. ‘It’s pirates’ treasure?’ Billy did not stop talking. ‘No,’ Marsiana cut off. ‘Gold-diggers’?’ the boy cried out. ‘No,’ Marsiana was adamant. ‘Gangsters’?’ Billy insisted. ‘No,’ it seemed that Marsiana at that time didn’t know another other word except “no”. ‘Bonnet and Clyde’s?’ Billy blurted. ‘Stop guessing. You’ll not still guess,’ Marsiana said. ‘When we come at the place you see everything.’ ‘What place?’ ‘That where the treasure is buried.’ Billy decided to wait. Moreover, they were already on the outskirts of town and before them lay a vast wasteland. Marsiana looked around the wasteland, and were pleased with what she saw. ‘Here,’ she said. Billy stared around, but saw the treasure nowhere. He was playing there a lot of times with the children before, but they didn’t find any treasure at all. ‘Here?’ he asked incredulously. ‘Here,’ Marsiana nodded. ‘But what its look like. It’s gold?’ Billy's eyes lit up. He imagined himself as a treasure hunter, such as Indiana Jones or Lara Croft. ‘No, not gold,’ Marsiana objected. ‘Now you’ll see all.’ The ground at the feet of Marsiana cracked and began to disperse to the sides. Dark snake crack ran farther and farther. Then out of the ground appeared a huge dinosaur’s skeleton. Billy gasped in surprise and sat down. The skeleton was huge and appeared completely out of the ground gently lay down on it side. Billy thought that this is a treasure, but Marsiana only glanced at the giant fossilized bones. It looks like she was looking for something different. The crack in the ground a little more expanded, and out of there came up top of the pyramid. It opened, and stunned Billy saw inside the unfamiliar to him objects. What did they look like, and what for they were useful he did not know. Nothing like that in his life he had never seen before. Marsiana seemed wasn’t surprised at the appearance of the pyramid, and impatiently waited, when it is fully open. Then she went to the pyramid and began to sort and inspect the items which were in it. Some of it she even took in her hands. The other just touched and whispered something. Billy looked at what was happening, as if in a daze. All he saw reminded him of some wonderful dream or a fairy tale, but Marsiana was a Magic Fairy. Finally Marsiana chose some subject and then hid it. The pyramid at the same moment closed and disappeared underground. The crack was delayed and also completely disappeared. Dinosaur’s skeleton lay on the ground. Marsiana came to Billy, stopped in front of him. ‘That’s all. We can go back,’ she said with a satisfied tone. ‘I found the treasure.’ Billy looked at her wide-eyed. He was still in shock and could not speak. ‘What? Ah, you’re thinking about a dinosaur,’ Marsiana guessed. ‘He will lie here. Let the people of the town think that it was thrown to the surface by the underground water or something else.’ Billy got up, closed finally his mouth. ‘Can I see?’ he asked timidly. ‘You are welcome,’ Marsiana allowed. Billy cautiously approached the skull of the dinosaur and stopped near fossilized millions of years ago meter tusks. ‘You think it’s a Tyrannosaurus?’ he asked, cautiously touching one of the tooth. It seemed to him that the jaw will close, the dinosaur growl or snap, and rises to his feet. But nothing happened. Skeleton of the monster continued to lie quietly on the side. ‘Maybe Tyrannosaurus,’ Marsiana shrugged. The skeleton didn’t interest her. She did not understand what could interest Billy in the ancient fossils. ‘Take a picture for memory,’ Billy suddenly begged and handed her the phone. Mariana fulfilled his request. ‘Well, now can we go home?’ she asked. ‘I do not want that somebody see us here. Soon there will be a lot of people. I needn’t an extra popularity at all. I am a modest little girl.’ ‘Yeah, let’s go,’ Billy agreed. When they were a little away from the wasteland, he suddenly asked: ‘What did you get in the pyramid?’ ‘Nothing,’ Marsiana answered calmly. ‘How nothing? I definitely saw that you took something,’ Billy insisted. ‘Well, I took,’ Marsiana admitted. ‘It’s not your business. Do you understand me? You’ve got your picture with the dinosaur, haven’t you? So, it’s enough for you.’ Billy offended and sniffed. ‘No offense, Billy,’ Marsiana softened. ‘The time will come, I'll tell you,’ she promised. ‘It’s true?’ Billy quickened. ‘True,’ Marsiana confirmed her words. ‘But we'll go look for the treasure again?’ Billy asked. ‘We have already found.’ ‘I Mean the other. Maybe you know another place where the treasure is?’ ‘Maybe I know,’ Marsiana did not deny. ‘Cool!’ Billy exclaimed. ‘I really liked look for treasure but you? ‘Me too,’ Marsiana agreed. ‘What are you going to do right now?’ ‘Plant flowers,’ Marsiana said. ‘But then?’ ‘But then you’ll come and see,’ the little girl joked. At that spot of their conversation they parted home. Marsiana went to plant her flowers but Billy was in a hurry to examine the photos on which he was photographed together with the skeleton of a dinosaur. Maybe even it was the real T. Rex!
